Eaton TVSS

Critical UL 1449 update information
On February 9, 2007, the Underwriters Laboratories Standard for Safety implemented major updates to the standards for all transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS) products. The UL 1449 standard was designed to reduce the risk of shock or fire hazard during TVSS use, and applies to all TVSS units manufactured after this date.

Eaton offers two surge protection devices designed to protect your sensitive telecommunications, HVAC, and other electrical and electronic equipment.

    • The Eaton PVL is our standard surge protective device (SPD) that combines surge suppression components and EMI/RFI filtering to provide effective protection for sensitive electronic loads. The Eaton PVL product is available in 50, 80, 100, 120, 160, and 200 kA per phase.
    • The Eaton PXL offers improved quality and reliability including enhanced monitoring capabilities and a new patent pending technology – our Thermo-Dynamic Fusing System – which provides a safer surge protective device in a smaller package. It can be purchased in 100, 120, 160, 200, 250, 300, 400, and 500 kA per phase sizes.
